16 May 2022, 15:44The Russian Church declares a negative attitude to computer games
Moscow, May 16, Interfax – The Russian Orthodox Church reported that it does not welcome cravings for computer games, considering them a kind of drug.
"The Church as a whole has a negative attitude towards computer games, because computer games carry the danger of addiction," Metropolitan Hilarion, head of the Synodal Department for External Church Relations, said on air of the Church and the World program on Rossiya-24 TV.
According to him, a computer game can for some time - for several hours, days or weeks – knock a person out of his normal state, immerse him in an illusory world, and a person can become dependent on it.
Metropolitan Hilarion believes that computer games are a "kind of drug", and therefore they generally negatively affect the psyche of people.
For this reason, the Church, as the metropolitan noted, does not participate in the creation of computer games, "just as the Church does not participate, for example, in the production of drugs, because it considers drug addiction itself deeply dangerous for a person." |
