Russian Orthodox Church trusted by two-thirds of Russians – poll

Moscow, April 21, Interfax - Two-thirds of Russians (66%) trust the Russian Orthodox Church, more than three quarters (78%) of fellow citizens aged over 60 are of this opinion, according to a public opinion poll conducted by the Public Opinion Foundation (FOM) and published on the sociological center's official website.

Moreover, more than half of those polled (54%) said they trust Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill; that proportion is 70% among Russians aged over 60, sociologists said.

According to the FOM, almost every second Russian (45%) believes that the Russian Orthodox Church has a positive influence on public life in the country; 58% of respondents aged over 60 think so.

According to the survey, 27% of Russians do not see any influence of the Russian Orthodox Church on public life in the country, while more than one-third of respondents (39%) among fellow citizens aged between 18 and 30 think so.

The nationwide opinion poll was conducted on April 8-10, 2022. It surveyed 1,500 respondents aged 18 and older in 104 Russian settlements in 53 regions.
