Moscow, October 1, Interfax - The 7th Moscow Jewish Film Festival will be held this year on October, 3-12, the organizers decided to dedicate it to the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Babi Yar shootings.
"This year, a special place in the festival program is occupied by films dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Babi Yar shootings, a colossal tragedy, but little displayed in the cinema. The format of the festival is a very useful cultural practice, it is especially necessary to communicate openly about moral values in our time," Alexander Boroda, President of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia, said on the eve of the festival.
The festival will traditionally present to a wide audience the best modern films on Jewish themes. In addition to screenings, educational events and Q&A sessions with filmmakers will be organized.
The festival program presents films from 23 countries, including Russia, Israel, the USA, Great Britain, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Canada, Australia, Argentina and others. The closing film of the festival will be the work of Sergey Loznitsa "Babi Yar. Context", which is also a participant in the competition of full-length documentary films. |
