Yekaterinburg, January 12, Interfax - Yekaterinburg's Oktyabrsky District Court on Tuesday gave 15 days of arrest to Vsevolod Moguchev, a supporter of former schema-hegumen Sergy, in the case of inciting hatred.
"15 days of administrative arrest," Moguchev's lawyer Mikhail Tolmachyov told Interfax.
This custodial term will be added to the term of arrest in another case, the administrative arrest will end on January 27. The lawyer added that the defense team would appeal this court ruling.
As reported earlier, Yekaterinburg's Oktyabrsky District Court on Tuesday began hearing Moguchev's administrative case on charges of incitement to hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity.
The case was opened following the repost of a video called "Father Sergy - Who is preparing slavery in Russia," made on June 8, 2020 on Moguchev's public VK social network page, Tolmachyov said. According to IP-addresses, not only his client had access to the page, he added.
On December 31, Yekaterinburg's Leninsky District Court gave Moguchev 15 days of arrest for disobeying a police officer. On January 11, the defense team appealed this court ruling, but the court of appeals upheld it on January 12.
The administrative protocol was drawn up against Moguchev because he allegedly refused to leave a taxi car late in the evening on December 28 at the request of police officers, the lawyer said. Moguchev's arrest term on this charge ends on January 12.
On December 29, 2020, Moscow's Basmanny District Court sanctioned the arrest of former schema-hegumen Sergy, who was detained in the Sredneuralsk Convent at night. Former schema-monk Sergy, who was defrocked in the summer of 2020 for violating his priestly oath, monastic vows, and several apostolic rules and church canons, was excommunicated by the Church on September 10, 2020. He has repeatedly said that he was not going to leave the Sredneuralsk Convent.
